Back in January Nate and I took a break from winter for a week in the Palm Springs area. Nate and his family have some kind of condo rental things that I don't understand (and don't really want to). In any event, we had a cool place in Indian Wells, California. It was great to get away from the cold and snow of Milwaukee and spend a week in the sun and warmth of Southern California.
We enjoyed time at the pool, played tennis five or six times, went to a Chopin concert, shopped, ate some great meals, drank champagne, and pigged out on our homemade guacamole on two occasions.
Nate and I have known each other since 1991. There are few people who know me as well as he does. That ensures some excellent conversation as well as a few disagreements since both of us know how to push the other's buttons. We had one cathartic blow-out, but mostly laughed a lot and had a great time.
