Big Cow and Sputnik

Cedar Crest ice cream is made in Manitowoc. They have a store known in local parlance as The Big Cow. The photo above is self-explanatory. We stopped there for some ice cream and for the fine photo opportunity.

One of Manitowoc's claims to fame in addition to its submarine building history is that a piece of the Sputnik IV satellite landed in the middle of North 8th Street in Manitowoc on September 6, 1962. Of all places in the world for a piece of a Soviet satellite to land, it landed in Manitowoc. We had to get a photo of Bobby next to the plaque commemorating this notable event in Manitowoc history.
