Nate sometimes refers to me, affectionately, of course, as "Tawanda." Tawanda is part of the story in the film "Fried Green Tomatoes." (My favorite line: "I'm older and I have more insurance," spoken by Kathy Bates' character. It's very Barbie-esque.) In any event, at work today I had to write a letter to a woman named Tawanda K. It was a bit of a thrill to write to a real life Tawanda. Anyone with that name must be fierce.

I enjoy fun conversations with friends, going out to dinner, hiking in national parks, and alternative music from the 80s and early 90s. I'm an avid runner; I've finished seven marathons since 2005 (PR 3 hours, 19 minutes in 2010) and will likely run my eighth in 2011. My friends describe me as earnest, empathetic, industrious, hard working, unpretentious, and intelligent. I love to smile and laugh, and I don't take myself too seriously. I'm extremely loyal to my friends, sometimes to the point of being too hard on them. I've been told that I'm a good listener. My friends and family are very important to me. Honesty and humor are very important. People who can’t crack a smile or muster a giggle turn me off. I enjoy 'being' more than 'doing'. I don't need to go out to have a good time; I just need to have good company. I prefer dinner and a show (be it live, film, or rented) to a club. I like honest and witty conversations.
